I started jogging straight from the door. No high winds, no wonderful scenery, just me and the road.
The faith path is in only one direction, from darkness to light. My day started with the wonderful opportunity to deliver a thought for the day to the scouts and finish with prayer. The day ended with a very traditional evensong.
I was aiming for a full circuit of the woods but only just arrived at a community church before having to turn back through pain. Perhaps God humbles us.
At evensong I was singing a hymn and a phrase struck me. God is calling me to minister to children, to bring Jesus to the masses. I connected through my singing.
And this hymn also came to me;
Lift up your eyes, ye sons of light.
Lift up your eyes, ye sons of light,
Behold the fields already white!
The glorious harvest now is come;
See ransom’d sinners flocking home.
Isaiah 60:40
Look and see, for everyone is coming home! Your sons are coming from distant lands; your little daughters will be carried home.
Sometimes I think God is happy for us to just attend a church and take part that way, and that could be our calling, being part of a community, but there is always so much more we can do within that community, but perhaps God is calling us for better, more exciting adventures which test our very limit.
Last night was exhaustion and sometimes we just need sleep, rest before the adventure starts again the next day.
Dear Lord
Thank you for the cross, even though I do not understand or even realise fully the sacrifice made I am glad and thankful that you rose again three days later and you added us to your family through sanctification in our lives.
Amen
