Run to the cross 8

Tonight was a long run, through the dark woods at the bottom of the road, following the river before turning and heading home.

I run to the cross, not because I am holy but because I am a sinner and God commanded me to repent. The river can not be held back, it is inevitable that God’s mercy shall pour out over the whole earth. Just like the stream finding a way through the stone wall, God’s mercy and love will find its way to earth to complete its task, but the question needs to be asked;

Will you wait for some special invitation or will you just roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.

Jeremiah 17:7–8

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

So don’t be anxious, God tells us not to be, even in a drought, or perhaps even in floods, but turn your gaze toward Jesus and the cross.

Dear Lord, help us to act and live a life of service to your will, your kingdom and your Holy Spirit’s guidance, in Jesus name – Amen
