What a fascinating sunset tonight. Behind the tree deep colours of red. We do not see the sun, but we know that it is there.

We do not see Jesus in His earthly body but we can clearly see his attributes, His action in our lives and in how we now respond to people. But that does not mean I am not hurt or that I do not feel. Being a follower of Christ is about feeling compassion in your life and acting on that compassion.

We do not see Jesus, but the evidence of his blood cleansing people from their sins is clearly evident. Jesus is in effect invisible, but we still can see him because we have opened our hearts to the Holy Spirit which guides us. The Holy Spirit hears the Word, hears Jesus and prays for us.

Seeing the Invisible

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Sometimes do we feel invisible. Trying to listen to God’s call in our day means for me that I have to listen more often, and appear to be silent. Perhaps people, thinking I am quiet ignore me or think I have nothing to say on a matter. But while in the old body I would respond with a reaction, I try to listen to see what God wants me to do. Of course I muck up and sometimes I am anything but quiet. More often than not, when my ugly old self reasserts itself the results will be the same; pain for someone.

The work that many do is often not seen. Their work is in effect invisible. But this work is a clear example of the Holy Spirit working in their lives. Just like Jesus is not seen but his body, i.e. His Church is clearly seen and its works continue on a daily basis as a glory to be offered up too God.

So do not loose heart. Do not worry if your works for God are unseen, for God can see them even if men can not see them. He will reward you in heaven a great reward. So do good works and seek not to be rewarded here and now but instead through prayer offer up your works to God and be at peace.
