I took the road at a sensible speed but decided to have a long run today. Through the deserted parks in the daylight led on to a deserted playground that was surrounded in cast away rubbish. Onward and down an overgrown path, past a river and up to the three stones. The black marks of fire everywhere, and as I went along a river I stopped to put out another fire that was consuming the grass at the side of some houses, by pouring out my water bottle and stamping down on the fire.
It could have been a movie scene, some apocalyptic film. It might as well have been because there are many that are putting posts out there that this has been predicted in the bible and it is a punishment from God. I’m not sure what God has got planned but I am sure that he wants to be reunited with His children, to once again walk at His children’s side in a garden talking about adventures or pointing out the blossom on the trees again. Perhaps He does but we don’t hear or see.

We should not be worrying about the future, or if Jesus will turn up tomorrow, but we should always be consumed with the Gospel, with bringing the kingdom to fruition through God.
1 Corinthians 3:13
13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.
We are called to quench the fire of the world, to soak it in the living waters, to trample on sin with Godly prayer in Jesus name, to be known for works of goodness and love. God is here with us and He is helping through people who have opened their hearts to do good works.
Today I have been humbled listening to all the wonderful things people are doing in their communities and I think, am I doing enough? As I run towards the cross I see what Jesus did for me, for everyone and I am shamed by the laziness I have some days. Waken me Lord.
Dear Lord guide us all to open our hearts and set them aflame with your Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name.
Amen.
