Today usually I am at church in the morning waving a palm cross high and singing, worshipping God. Palm Sunday has arrived and my thoughts go with the triumphant entry Jesus made into Jerusalem but also the journey Jesus takes to vanquish sin and begin the permanent process of re-united heaven and earth. I decided to take a rest from running and just spend most of my thoughts on God.
1 Kings 28
Then he went out and found the body lying on the road, with the donkey and the lion standing beside it.
Although this passage is seemingly disconnected with Jesus riding into Jerusalem. It does seem to speak to me about the nature of Jesus as the king. The donkey is symbolic of a servant and the lion is symbolic as the lion of Judah. Jesus is both servant King and ruling King, but now with the crucifixion he is now bound up with humanity through the death of his human body, which was full of mankind’s sin. The image is of Jesus as a servant, the ruler and bound now with humanity.
Take heart if this appears very heavy or just imagined, but give everything to Jesus and have hope because there is nothing that can separate you from God’s love. Perhaps say this next verse as a prayer and Amen at the end.
Romans 8:39
Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.
