Run to the cross 39

I chose a point to run to today, rather than just randomly find a path. I always find running out harder than returning, even though they are usually the same distance.

Mark 15:21
They compelled a passer-by, who was coming in from the country, to carry his cross; it was Simon of Cyrene,
the father of Alexander and Rufus.

When you meet Jesus you can’t help but turn from your ways. Even if the meeting is a chance meeting like Simon the Cyrene. Because he was travelling into the city he was turned around by the soldiers and ordered to carry the cross. Because we are also told the names of his sons, we can be certain he became known to the worshipping community that Mark was writing to in his Gospel.

Turning from your old ways to Jesus is always easy. You just have to give in the fight. Stop struggling and just give everything to Him and He will start to lead you out of darkness and into the light. It is harder to walk against the water than to just go with the water.

Way to the cross 8 Simon helps Jesus

Dear Jesus, give us your understanding so that we can turn from ways that do not bring you glory. Lead us with your light. Help us to lead others to you so that they too can be saved.
