shadow of the tree

Day 354 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain

God’s voice is all around us. Look into the river and you will see a reflection of the tree, but this is not the tree. This world is a sad reflection of what it could be, and daily I feel even more concerned that we sit back and just humour each other and ignore the tree that is standing in full view of everyone. If we would just lift our necks from this earthly abode to see the glory of God standing right in plain sight.

Daily we try to imitate this voice of God, and some days we do a better job of it than on others, but still we strive. We have been told God’s voice, his general revelation, is in nature and we all perceive it and are without excuse.

It is also in music, all music that you here is God’s creation, as He sang us all into being through his voice.

His voice is also in all art, as he created and shaped the world and gave it purpose. Is this not the most amazing place in the universe? It is a work of art.

Anything and everything is God’s.

But the devil is allowed to rule here for a moment, and I feel we are in the last moments before Jesus returns and shows us all we were without excuse. Pain, death, sorrow, hunger, hate, they all have the fingerprint of the devil. These show us that the devils way is not the way. We need to follow the true way – Jesus.

Today started with song, with hearing a song without any words but with joy and beauty. This was from God and it startled me and made me think.

Are we here singing the song, just trying to sing a wonderful song but we don’t know the words?

Everyone is singing away but no one knows the words. Our lives are a sad reflection of what God has planned for us. It is like watching all these super-hero films, watch enough super-hero films and read enough super-hero stories and soon enough you will believe you have a hidden super power. But is this not truth, they are all hinting at the reflection of God’s promise. We have a super-power.

Within us is the power to change this world for the better. If we believe strong enough and we feel compassion for this earth then we can change it. We only have to raise our heads to look at the tree. It is there for all to see. Not the tree of knowledge of Good and Bad, we have that as I am sure you can reason for yourself what is good and what is bad and we all fall short.

But the devil likes to plant spirits of fear, or mistrust, or envy within us, and if we let him and do not banish him daily with prayer, then our walls will come tumbling down and the work shall have to start again.

It is the tree of redemption that you should have hope in and see. The tree where the devil thought he had ended it, but where God had actually just ended the devils reign. Now the devil’s reign is temporary and Jesus is returning. We are here as his agents on this earth to lead all to His redemptive blood.

Job 14:7-9

“For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its shoots will not cease. Though its root grow old in the earth, and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put out branches like a young plant.

Hebrews 6:19

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul,
a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

These two extracts tell us that we should always have hope and that God will send an anchor for our soul.

First have hope for the tree, that is Christ and his redemptive work and then kneel in reverence and accept the gift from God of the Holy Spirit which will give us the power to change this earth for the better.

Dear Lord,
I am constantly humbled by your presence, even though sometimes I do not hear you until I have gone far past. Banish from me all feelings from darkness and fill me with nothing but your light so that I amy lift up my head and shout for joy at your redemptive cross and work on the tree were you set yourself as the servant king, over all. Dear Lord heal this earth of fear and hate. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen
