Day 353 And he took a child and put him in the midst of them

It’s amazing how a small thing can make a difference. Frogs are pretty common in my garden, and they are also especially common in my mud hut. Each frog can lay 2000 eggs at a time it seems, this gives them the best chance of survival with many predators. But with some predators missing from the eco system it means that the frogs are seemingly having a holiday. The pond usually is full of frog spawn each year and the grass is hopping mad with frogs, so much so I have to try to comb the grass as such before I try to mow it in the summer. Frogs normally are hibernating by this time, but I think the weather, apart from being extremely wet is also very warm. Or perhaps as I was enlarging a mud hole in the floor it was hiding down there trying to hibernate.

I spent most of the morning just resting as the week had been a bit hectic, but managed to get out to the hut to continue to add to the thatch around the sides and check for small leaks.

One small drip can make a huge difference to a wall section. A section of a wall collapsed after the drip continued. Luckily it doesn’t support anything and I knew this was the weakest wall, but it still is a good warning to put measures in place to re-direct these drips into the water butt.

Mark 9:36-37

And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

We can have a huge difference on children’s lives because they listen and accept everything that is told them. It is because of this that we have to be extra careful when talking to children, try at every opportunity to tell things as they are with truth. I am not sure why we feel the need to lie sometimes. Why we feel the need to invent fairies that collect teeth and such. The world is full of awe and wonder that we do not have to create extra wonder and “magic”.

But we also in turn have to accept God’s word as truth, like children, but not without engaging our brains and hearts.

God sent his son and put him in the midst of us, and we in turn crucified him on the cross. But God loves humanity so much that he raised his son from the dead and put Jesus as the judge, so that all who confess Jesus as Lord and saviour will be saved. There is nothing as magic as this revealing truth from the bible. We should be joyous this Christmas. But also be ready to give testimony about God and make a huge difference from a small start. The only way to God is through Jesus and if you deny him you are denying God, and after God the Father made a huge sacrifice of sending his son I am not sure how anyone can walk away from this gift.

I shall share a prayer I found written by a child that just is clear and to the point.

Dear Lord Jesus,
We shall have this day only once,
before it is gone,
we thank you dearly for this day.

Amen
