Day 352 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him

I had to go outside to see this light in the morning sky as when I looked out from inside the building you couldn’t see it. Simple and subtle colours for all to see, but our world is so full of crude man made beauty that sometimes we do not see this beauty.

Are we so self contained within ourselves that we don’t allow God to do the work by being outside ourselves?

What I mean by this, are we focussed on ourselves rather than others? Our focus should be on service to others and I find this very hard to do especially when there are projects to be completed. To have a sense of awareness around you so that if God were to send someone your way to guide or comfort in some small way, then you would be aware of it. My adrenaline especially gets in the way and many times this just fills me full of me, rather than being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 2:6

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,

I see people who are truly filled with the spirit during their daily routines, they walk in a crowd and they are able to pause and to just offer a word here and there and still are able to get the day to day “stuff” done.

Genesis 3:8

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

I feel that it is really important that we do not neglect this as part of our life in Christ. To live a prayer filled life but also walk with an awareness of Christ. I have heard testimony from people who have been so filled with the Spirit that they can sense God walking with them. This should be our goal, to take our relationship back to as it was in the beginning in the original Genesis story, walking in the garden with the Lord, with Christ.

But also important is that we do not hide ourselves from God, for we are free from sin now thanks to the sacrifice by Jesus coming into this world as a baby and offering himself on the cross.

Lord help us not to hide amongst the things of our life but allow you to walk with us so we are able to do your will with the help of the Holy Spirit through Christ.
