How wondrous that this “stinking Iris” keeps its seeds through the winter months.
Hidden away in the hedge growth are these plants that keep their berries safe.
We also, if we have accepted Jesus, have been given these hidden berries. The gifts of the Holy Spirit remain with us and these will produce fruits, but where the gifts may not be the outcome of them surely will. People this year are getting excited about the new Star wars film, but in fact we are all carriers of the true light that endows us with more than any film can suggest.
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same[b] Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
I despair when I hear people joking about one church or another, when people say, “Oh but they are catholic, or they are anglican, or methodist. When will God’s church wake up and stand as one, not joking about the differences of ministries, but actually helping one another because we all have the Holy Spirit within us if we are producing fruits – that is the very proof for the scoffers out there.
Protect the gifts given to you, and use them for God’s will.
Dear Lord, allow me to live a God filled life where I am fearful of offending you. Allow us to pray for those that scoff at you, that shout loud insults at us, let us all respond in love so that we keep and show these gifts entrusted to us by your Holy Spirit.
