Day 345 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

I walked past this flower or blossom on a small tree this morning and as I was going home. How could such a wondrous flower bloom in this weather? There are many wondrous things out there that give hope to the colder months. Two points of contact made me think about two important parts of the day.

This morning I came to realise, as I often do when praying, that there are two vital points in the day that can not be sidelined, rushed or taken for granted. They seem so vitally important that even if you have the most important deadlines and targets to meet, these must be met. They are that important that they should not even be put onto a to do list – these are as important as breathing is to the body.

spending time with God

This can be in any manner you feel comfortable but I usually spend some time praying and thanking God for the life I have. The day seems to fall into place when I have prayed. If this is so important, then why do so many of us struggle at this small sacrifice? God is waiting and He is not just another chum, He is the creator God almighty – we must fear him.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

We must seek God at the start of each day and His truth will, as is evident today and many other days, be revealed to us.

spending time with Family

This is my grounding as I spend time, vital time with my family. Yet so many of us will work harder and harder and neglect this time, or bring work home with us and sit there doing the work as the children look on. If we could take a look from a strangers point of view it might be a sad scene, us staring into our work or devices as the children look on desperately at us.

1 Timothy 3:5

For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?

God has given us small things to manage, small tasks to do and if we can not do these; such as loving our family in a life of turmoil, then we will not grow. We must work on keeping our quality times with our family to guide them and show God how committed we are.

Dear Lord,

Help us all to seek you at the start of every day,
and spend time with our family each day also.

Amen
