The waterfall is strong, and there is no force that can stand against it – I know because I jokingly tried when I was younger. Putting my back against that waterfall at Yordas cave and finding that not only were we washed into the system, but that the solid entrance beam of solid rock washed washed away and cracked in to two parts. There is nothing that can stand in the way of this force, the force of God exercising his will over time.
Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying,
“Is the Lord among us or not?”
When we have moments like these, rock splitting moments, then we are fully sure that the Lord is with us, but why do we go on to doubt on days that seem so far removed from God?
I can only say from experience of failure and shame that I very often neglect to pray and spend time with the Lord, instead I try to get things done and hope my own energy can carry me through. Today I turned to the Lord and He came to me, to help me. Tomorrow I may way fail and quarrel again with Him, asking Him that question;
“Is the Lord among us or not?”
But I always come back to the answer that yes “I still believe!”
Dear Lord thank you for your presence in our lives, help us to dwell on those moments and to experience your joy at living as lights, as living waters pouring into a stagnant pool to reinvigorate it.
Amen
Bang on this one Graham.
