Day 328 In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts of the field, With the birds of the air, And with the creeping things of the ground.

I was looking across this lake and trying to catch the image of the birds flying across. The other side of the lake looks luscious and green. A faint yellow streak can be seen in the blue amongst all the clouds, which are holding rain, for it started raining shortly afterwards just as we arrived back to the car.

Hosea 2:18-23

18 In that day I will make a covenant for them
With the beasts of the field,
With the birds of the air,
And with the creeping things of the ground.
Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth,
To make them lie down safely.

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

21 “It shall come to pass in that day
That I will answer,” says the Lord;
“I will answer the heavens,
And they shall answer the earth.
22 The earth shall answer
With grain,
With new wine,
And with oil;
They shall answer “God will sow”
23 Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth,
And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy;
Then I will say to those who were not My people,
‘You are My people!’
And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

What a wonderful section of writing and words from the book of Hosea.

In that Day!
What a day to wait for, when the world seems full of turmoil on a daily basis. But is this any different from when Jesus was here in his human form? I believe times back then were horrendous, great conflict raged the lands, many thousands seemed to be oppressed like they are today. But did Jesus seem to stress out about it? No, but he prayed constantly. He focussed on what he was presented with each new day and trusted in his father that he had enough energy to get through the day.
The verses seem to tell me about a day when God shall create a perfect earth once again, the animals and creatures will have a covenant to be at peace and not attack each other, battles and wars will cease, the earth shall be a wonderful place to live producing much grain, wine and oil, and more importantly we shall, even if we don’t recognise God yet, treat God like a faithful bride treats her husband and say “You are my God”.
Still, we have a long journey across the lake and we need an Ark to carry us across this water.

The Holy Spirit’s prayers could be thought of as this ark and work within us must take shape and today I have learned that sometimes I struggle against letting the Spirit take over.

Jesus is the door. Through Him we pray and are able to stand holy before God the Father.

The Father perhaps is the direction and currents of the lake to take us across, He is the overall controlling direction, but fear not because we have Jesus and the Holy Spirit with us on this journey – how awesome is that?
I feel we need to be attuned to what God will tell us in the day, let God lead and we shall follow like servants and one day we shall truly be able to walk at the side of God once again and speak with Him as friend and saviour.
Dear Lord, Father , Son and Holy Spirit,
Come within us all each day and allow us to take your rebukes with humbleness.
Come within us and keep ourselves from leading,
but let you lead us to do only your will.

Come within us and pray with us and comfort us through
our struggles and our failures.
Dear God,
Thank you for your daily blessings and your living Word,
let us go out each day anew
with the joy that we have a new covenant
with Jesus your Son.
Amen
