Day 320 Jesus, Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace

We have had two storms passing over the North West. Storm Abigail and storm Kate, and now we seem to be in a lull in the weather, although more winds are forecast for tomorrow as we wait for the arrival of storm Barney. Who does name these storms? We do like to name things don’t we, in fact God gave us a job and the first job was to name everything.

Genesis 2:19

19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

God just seems to dote over man at every opportunity, bringing all the kinds of creatures to him to name, giving him that great honour. Did you notice how God brought the creatures to Adam. This may have been very similar when God brought animals to Noah to save in the Ark.

This river shows the leaves fallen but still lying beautifully on the water creating colour and shapes that contrast in this autumn weather. The leaves are from beech trees, these have some wonderful colours in autumn and the wood is wonderfully strong to use to build with.

Is nature more colourful and full of variety this time of year with contrasts of leaves and plants?

Honey locusts & beech
Honey locusts & beech

The green leaves are from honey locust trees, against the beech leaves again. Honey locusts remind me of John the baptist because he is said to have lived off honey and locusts. The trees are also planted sometimes on old reclaimed land where landfill sites may be, because it is hardy and can grow quickly.

Matthew 1:21

And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,
for he will save his people from their sins.”

Jesus’ name was given to us and this seems to reflect the type of saviour he would be. In fact there are many names for Jesus. Go Here http://bibleresources.org/names-of-jesus/  for a comprehensive list.

What does this all tell me tonight? It tells me that we still have the spirit of the Lord within us and our very essence still remembers the very first job humankind was given, and since that time humankind has explored and experimented to create wondrous ideas, inventions, projects and artwork.

It also very clearly tells me that God’s glory revealed through nature does not select which person should see this glory, but all, good and evil. God’s glory and truth through Jesus Christ is open to all if you would but accept Him. God is still bringing his creations to us, He is still doting on us like a Father and a Mother on a child.

MIGHTY GOD:

 (Isaiah 9:6)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus, Lord, God, be our saviour, lead us and reveal yourself to all who may look and seek. Let us see your truth every day so that we can be in turn Sons of God, through you
Jesus,
Wonderful,
Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace
