Day 310 Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come

The dark mornings are here. Rain was thrashing down when I arrived home, but shortly afterwards the light came out for a short time, and I went rushing to get a picture before the dark descended again. Then off to more fireworks.

It seems like the work load has increased 200% and tiredness hits me when I am trying to pray. Three times tonight I have knelt down and tried to pray, only to find myself dropping off to sleep.

Mark 14:41-42

41 Then He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

This is an inspiring part of the story. While the disciples are dropping off to sleep, three times he leaves them a short way to pray. Jesus was so concerned He said to them; “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

But the disciples couldn’t match Jesus’ focus and they kept dropping off to sleep.

I think what I glean from these verses tonight is that Jesus seems to do all the hard work.

IT IS ENOUGH!

We need only be willing, willing to have a go and be open to God’s plan, but also we must be prepared to act at any moment and to be prepared we have to set proper times to pray. We have to be serious about reclaiming our prayer routine. Jesus gives us enough time, we just have to be strong enough to set that time down, set it in stone even.

I am sure that only by placing our meetings with God as the most important thing that we do can we really start to make a difference in this world.

The orange coloured skies gave a brief respite to the dark and wet day and so as the sun shone down onto the trees many birds stretched and flapped out the rain. These brief moments are fingerprints of God displaying his eternal love to the people of earth. We must grab these moments when we can and pray.

We pray, we pray, we pray for your Glory.
We pray, we pray, we pray for our lives.
We pray, we pray, we pray for this story.
To heal, and save, and praise.
We pray, we pray, we pray.
In Jesus name we pray.

Amen
