The day started with birds cheeping in the morning light. This invigorated me to get up and start more work on the mud hut. Going out into the garden, putting on the wet cold wellies is a great way to start the day, but I was greeted with more birds singing. Seagulls calling their squark on the nearby trees and then later a stalk joining the symphony. Blue tits are particularly fast at jumping onto the bird table and grabbing seeds before dashing back into the hedge. The animals and birds love this little hut, hedgehogs, squirrels, birds, frogs, and who knows what else.
The chaffinch sings a wonderfully quick and melodic song. It is exuberant and joyous. Was this start of the morning and forecast for the end. Finishing a meal at Runcorn in a restaurant and family commented on how well behaved our children where. Small comments from strangers can just cheer our day.
Was God trying to teach me today that no matter what mood I am in, I must be a light to others. We can not hide our God given gift under a table, we must shine forth and bring forth goodness. God has placed that light within us. He also sends people to us that need that light and it is not our choice to hide it or send them away with our grumpiness or bad moods. Let us shine.
Luke 11:33
“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket,
but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.
We have been given an amazing gift to follow the will and inspiration of God, just like these birds following their course and singing every morning. They just love their work, they put every effort into it. We must put every effort into our life, comforting, spreading the word, spreading goodness, cheering those around us. For if we do not, Satan will pacify the next generation so they will not believe a single word or even The Word, and then we will be truly lost. Shine with love which comes from God.
Dear Lord, you are my light, and yet I do not do you justice on many days. On some days I feel down and lost, and yet you have put that lamp within me to shine. Let me rise above the cellar and shine with the light of your Holy Spirit.
Amen
