Felled tree

Day 291 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

The log points forward and there is a wonderful blue colour shining through beyond the trees.

I love trying to balance on logs, yes I am a child at heart, but aren’t we all? Who would ever want to grow up? Jesus even says that we must be like little children to be with him in heaven. So what’s wrong with keeping your childishness, your imagination, your inquisitiveness and your fearlessness when it comes to life? Well I certainly believe there is nothing wrong with these things.

Matthew 18:2-4

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

We have been called to be humble. That is in relation to what the will of God is, within us is the key. We are not to dwell on the immediate things but look to what is ahead. To the blue beyond the trees!

Children are willing to learn always when they can connect with it or when it excites them. Put a dull subject in front of them and they will start to dream of the blue beyond the trees, they will start to imagine they are balancing on the tree log and they will also make up all sorts of dangers like sharks if you fall off. But they dream. Their life is full of dreams. That is unless they give up, because they have been treated with anger and hate, or ignored. The easiest place for a child to retreat to in this day and age is the internet, to the land of bright colours and endless fun. But does this stop us from dreaming, does this dull our own imagination.

Never stopping dreaming, is that the key?

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Seeing the Invisible

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

We are told to see the invisible. How mad is that? Not only have we got the Spirit of God the creator of the universe inside of us (if we could just let God take over how exciting life would be?), but we are told to see the invisible!

A tree does not lose heart that the winter is approaching and the leaves will all fall off, for it knows it has sent out many seeds on the breeze and it has enjoyed everyday so far being a tree.

Enjoy what you have been made into and send out seeds on the breeze, for one day we will all be gone from this physical world to the next adventure and our physical bodies will be like this felled tree.

Dear Lord, help us all to dream, to be humble. Protect the children and help us all to show love to everyone. Help us all to enjoy life and send out seeds of love on the winds.

Amen
