God’s love doesn’t just extend to us, His love extends to nature that he created. These ducks are cared for. The hedgehog yesterday that fell into a pit is fine. But we have a hand in helping them, just like we cry out against people that shoot elephants, and lions. We have a soul that has been programmed to care for animals. We are God’s hands, we are his spokespersons on earth.
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O Lord.
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
Something that dawned on my this morning was also that we take refuge under the shadow of his wings, and as we take refuge, we help to save others through our salvation. Our children, our relatives, our friends, our neighbours, our enemies. We should strive to at all times show the light we have been given, so that they in turn can be led to the light.
Dear Lord, help us to listen to your biddings so that we can care for your nature, to care for the earth and to be responsible stewards.
