horses in field

Day 274 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.

James 3:3

If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.

Are we flippant too much?

Sometimes we catch a conversation in half way and we stumble in with some joke which is half hearted, anything to get peoples attention on us, but we haven’t really listened and we blunder in, only to feel awful as we have cracked a joke about some serious thing.

Too often I have done this, is this my flesh’s natural desire to get into conversations?

Not only are our lives tempered by what we say to others, but by what we say to God. Joking that he is having a laugh or being anything but reverent towards the creator of the universe is sinful. Joking and coming up with jokes used to be my default behaviour, but Jesus has reset me so that I can re-learn how to treat all people with respect.

Dear Lord, lead me by your faith and not by my site.

Amen
