spider on web

Day 239 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,

A spider on the web. If there is an area I leave in the garden for a bit, it will gather an assortment of spiders. In fact there is an old box which has a huge spider in and and am staying away from. Even though I am huge compared to this spider it still gives me the creeps. But spiders, like any creature are part of the mix of creation. They have a purpose. What I don’t like about spiders is that they trap there victims, and eat them after a wrapping them up and injecting poison to keep them fresh. But I find it fascinating that there are some spiders that catch pollen in their webs, they are herbivore even though insects are available. The article is in Entomology today.

The spiders web is very hard to see sometimes, and it is a horrible feeling as you walk down a path only to walk into a web. How often in our daily life are we distracted.

Psalm 19:14

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be acceptable in your sight,
Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

The mud hut is still in progress and I find it a huge way of settling the mind. Just working with mud and soil. Using my hands to create with natural materials. I haven’t planned any of it, it has just developed.

Whilst I work I have been able to reflect and pray to God. I also find the same manner of being in God’s presence when I bake bread, kneading the doe.

It is when I have a break and find myself turning to laptop on, searching the web for techniques or finishing music that I find myself distracted so easily, reading funny comments and news. All of this is of no value. God has planned everything out and He comes into our lives when we dwell on him.

One more thought that distracts me is that when I go onto social media, I find people are posting arguments and comments about people that they would say to their face. When the Psalm  says let the words of my mouth, I feel it also means let the words and text that comes from me be acceptable before God. It doesn’t mean you have to appease everyone but every response must be in love.

I love this passage from Corinthians

1 Corinthians 13:1

The Greatest Gift

13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Dear Lord, let my words, my thoughts, my written notes and reflections always be written in love to everyone.

Amen

    1. Thanks for your reply. I think for me at least, sometimes the task itself can be a distraction from God’s plan. I may have a task in mind and may believe it to be from God but I must also be open to showing love and pausing at anytime if someone comes along that requires love. A few times I have gotten blinkered in my approach. Jesus even when he was on the way to raise Lazarus I believe stopped to heal the women and he never once got flustered. God bless and just message me if you need prayers brother.
