The sunset shows a strange fire-like quality, as if there is a battle raging in the sky. This is how I feel, like there is a war raging.

Most of the day I have been doing odd jobs, but mostly in the garden. Trimming bushes back and pruning the hedge at my mothers.

John 15:1- 4

The True Vine

​“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

This seems a stark enough reminder for anyone. We must bear fruit, but I sometimes worry about am I bearing enough fruit, have I brought anyone to God? I know God is real and yet there is a war raging within me. The war is a spiritual one, negative thoughts sometime creep in. Am I doing enough? It seems at times as if my soul is up for grabs…

and then I relax and read on.

John 15: 3 – 4

3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

God states that you are already clean! There is no going back. The devil has no hold on you or me or anyone else who has given their life to Jesus, and the natural extension of living out a life for Christ is that we will all bear fruit. It may be different fruit or it may be fruit we don’t fully see, but if we are listening to the Holy Spirit then He will guide us into bearing fruit for Jesus.

Dear Lord, thank you for your continued love. I offer everything I have up to you.
