dead trees

Day 203 For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

Last night I had a dream;

I could see some trees on a cliff. Many were trying, straining to grab nutrition from the ground and straining to get as much ground for themselves. But those trees that tried to get as much space as possible ended up like these trees in the picture, dead, lifeless and barren. Other trees relaxed their grip on the ground and just allowed God’s natural energy to lead them and as they became nothing and did not concern themselves with how big they were, they became as light as the clouds and walked forward toward the cliff and then they floated up towards the sunset following the energy that guided them. As they did all of their branches started to bear different fruits of all kinds.

1 Corinthians 3:17-18

17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

This passage from 1 Corinthians is a stark warning. Perhaps when we have been tempted to follow our body and be selfish in life, be envious, be spiteful, be full of hate or criticism. Perhaps we could read this passage and pray. Pray that we realise that we have been given an awesome chance, a gift from God to follow Him. Not to follow the earthly prince who is deafened by Christ, God only requires us to step up to that mark as spiritual warriors, warriors of prayer and love to finish the war. The temple of God is within, please get on your knees tonight and pray for the needy, the lost, the sick, the hurting, the hateful, the spiteful, the envious and the sinner, because we are all these people in some respects.

Dear Lord, forgive us our sins and help us to follow your call to do your work no matter what the cost. Let us take up your cross and walk with a joyful determination.

Amen
