Another hot day to start and things didn’t seem to run smooth. An orange and black butterfly perches on some leaves in the sun. To get to a butterfly this creature has undergone an amazing transformation.
The power of prayer is also transformational when you really need it.
9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
I remember climbing once and thinking that the rock was crumbling and that I would fall. The fact that I was climbing with no safety and no backup was pretty foolish but I did start reciting the Lord’s prayer. I didn’t just say the words, but I focussed on them, and this seemed to calm me down, and make the rest of the climb run smooth.
But prayer is beyond just psychological or just making us feel better, God causes events to happen so as to draw us in line with His plans.
I remember praying prayers like this one when I got into a tricky situation and the situation seemed to evaporate.
I have also noticed that when we may be being attacked with evil forces or even temptations, these prayers steady the mind and build a power up that can easily banish any attacks from the spirit world. Perhaps you think me mad for saying this, or not using negative instead of evil, but I believe what Jesus tells us about the spirits that rebelled and are trying to tie us to this world. We must stand firm in our faith and pray as a matter of urgency.
Just like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, heart felt prayer can act as a transformational tool to aid our lives.
Lord allow us all to connect with you more through prayer. Through free prayer, and through recited prayer. I pray that the words sink into our heart and we really connect with you to hear you word clearly.
Amen
