Day 174 “I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

Sunset 23rd June
Sunset 23rd June

Blue sky all day and a wonderful evening of colour gracefully etching its way onto the sunset’s canvas.

Perhaps because God works mysteriously silent, but he works, we sometimes have Gods work pass on by and we don’t notice it. I was starting this blog this evening and the sunset was happening behind me. As the writing desk looks out opposite the sunset. Perhaps one morning I will get the sunrise again, but it seems drastically early to catch it at the moment.

“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

“I have trodden the winepress alone,
And from the peoples no one was with Me.
For I have trodden them in My anger,
And trampled them in My fury;
Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,
And I have stained all My robes.
For the day of vengeance is in My heart,
And the year of My redeemed has come.
I looked, but there was no one to help,
And I wondered
That there was no one to uphold;
Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me;

I felt a message was in this section when I heard it this morning. I feel my sins sometimes weigh heavily on my shoulders and then I am reminded of a few truths.

Jesus trod the road to calvary alone, apart from a forced help from Simon.

But that must have been the most lonely path to walk, knowing he was going to the cross to die. There was no one to help Jesus in his goal of paying for all our sins, in making full payment for vengeance. His robes were definitely stained from his blood and also our blood and sins was laid upon Jesus, so that he took them to the grave.

The line that jumps out at me is when it says;

Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me;

Jesus is our salvation, he is the arm of the Lord, and no matter how heavily we feel we have strayed from his path, I find that Jesus is always there. Perhaps he is not catching but perhaps he is taking the fall and pain with me. He connects with all our pain, and anguish.

I have heard the phrase “the sun shines on the righteous” today a lot. And why this may be true, it is also true that the sun shines on the unrighteous. God’s light – Jesus Christ, actively seeks out the unrighteous because he clearly says heaven will have joy when one sinner repents.

Luke 15

‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

Tonight I lay myself before the Lord and ask for forgiveness for all my sins, and I pray that many across the world will do the same, we are all sinners, but our hope is founded in Jesus Christ as the only way to God. Turn from your sinful ways before it is too late, for the door is held open for many as will receive.

Dear Lord, you are indeed mighty to save as there is none that you will turn your back on it they accept you. Help us to find the time to pray, to build up prayer for your work. Help us to speak to others at all times with peace and calmness. He us to pray for everyone who is under our care or needs a prayer tonight so that your miraculous powers will come down and heal, once and for all.

Amen

  1. Wow, Just read the post,and How relevant to my Day!
    I live in Spain most of the time but try hard not to take the Sunshine for Granted. Today I was sitting outside the local Supermarket waiting for my Daughter Helen( here on Hols) and had one of my “One to Ones” as I call them with the Boss. I’d just seen a post on Facebook about Is’s latest cruel way of torturing to Death innocent people by putting them in a metal cage and slowly drowning them in a Swimming Pool. My concern was that Mathew tells us that Who so ever Believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting Life. Firstly these Acts of Men not God. But if these and many other People die without the Christian Faith , purely because they were born in a non Christian Country, Surely they should not be excluded from entering the Kingdom of God? You’re post kind of answered that! Coincidence? Nah, Don’t think so, God works in Mysterios ways. God Bless Graham

    1. I have read reports of visions of Jesus appearing to tribal people that have had no connection with him. I also believe that Jesus is the light, the revelation, and that light perhaps may take many forms. So if someone has light revealed to them and they turn from their sinful ways then perhaps they will be led to Jesus. I certainly don’t believe that God is a cruel God and will punish people for just not meeting Jesus. There are things humans can not possibly know, but we are told to have hope and spread the word. This next verse answers the point better;

      John 10:16-16
      just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
