I only managed to catch the last rays of the red sun as it descended tonight. The red sun shone for a brief moment and then was gone.
It seems that Jesus’ earthly ministry was for a brief moment. Compared to many of the patriarchs and old testament characters, living 30 odd years is a tiny time to be on earth. But doesn’t that make Jesus’ story even more stunning, that he was here in his earthly body for a very brief time and yet he has affected everyone on this earth. I don’t think it is that bold a claim to say Jesus has affected everyone who lives on this planet. History has been shaped by this man.
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
Jesus shined on this earth for a very short time, he brought light everywhere he went, and then went back to his Father to sit and judge all mankind. But he did send the Holy Spirit and it is this Spirit that we accept and that teaches us in our Christian journey.
Christians should have access to this miraculous power contained within the person of the Holy Spirit. It is this person that resides within us that is now an inner light.
Tonight I pray that we all listen and act upon the Holy Spirit, that we listen for his promptings and praise the work of the Holy Spirit.
