The view is of the Mersey river looking through trees over the houses of Runcorn. Rivers are havens of life. The rivers are used for transport, for food, for water.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
The river that sustains me is God’s Spirit. I sometimes don’t spend as many previous hours trying to listen to the Holy Spirit but he still sustains me. The Spirit listens to the Word, Jesus, and we are guided to God the Father. When things get hard, get hairy, we can either turn back to the old self and admit defeat or we can rely entirely of this river that sustains us for guidance – He will lead us to Jesus, to the Father.
Dear God help us all to listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance in how we should live. Thank you Holy Spirit for your constant prayers and thank you for leading me to Jesus who is the eternal living river.
