The view is from Beeston Castle in Cheshire. A wondrous castle on top of a hill with the ranging winds that you don’t know about from the hills below. It feels fresh and like you are alive when you are walking around.
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
We may see the goal is in site at various points in our journey, and at other times it may even go below the horizon or it may be obscured by some forest or building but when we do see that goal, it reminds us that we are on the right path.
It also gives us chance to catch our breath and thank God for His eternal blessings He has showered upon us. It is a good ploy to suggest taking in the view on the way up a mountain, as this is a good way to rest whilst not appearing like you are at all tired.
When you are busy it feels like you are alive but it is still important to pause to pray. Are we on the right track? Is this really the route God would like me to tread or am I just leading myself and not following God.
We paused at the top and sat down and enjoyed the sun, the warmth. Then the showers that drenched us (God was really showering us), all this time the children were enjoying themselves playing hide and seek. Perhaps it was a sign that we needed a good rest because a busy week was to come.
Dear Lord, help us all to enjoy the restful times when they come. Send your Spirit to re-fill us with your strength. I know I do deserve to have your love and support, but you chose to sacrifice your son for each one of us. May we rise to the challenge without complaint and go to the task of bringing your kingdom to fruition here and now.
Amen
with blessings
Graham
