As the sun set tonight it was a few minutes only of colour and so my iPhone captured the golden glow of the sky in a small streak. This streak of gold can be said to remind us of God’s treasure hidden in a field. The treasure is the kingdom of God.
I have been reflecting on the parable of the hidden treasure and I also opened my bible to proverbs 2. How similar they are and how important a message they bear. We are to seek the knowledge and the kingdom of God and we are not to hold anything back. Nothing should be more important than seeking and obtaining God’s kingdom and understanding. I should not let my pride get in the way, nor my skills and talents that have been given to me by almighty God, nor my things that I have. Material things can not come before God and this quest to obtain the kingdom.
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
44 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Is there anything in our lives that gets in the way of our life with God, gets in the way of us fulfilling the potential that God wants us to fulfil? To take on His cross and bear this on our journey?
I’ve been experimenting with time lapse and here is one of my first sunsets over Fulwood in Preston. Seeing the earths weather in speeded up motion it reminds me of God’s different viewpoint to ours in that He created the world, space, matter and time. So to God many moments could perhaps seem like a lifetime for us. God is working His purposes out.
Lord I pray that nothing holds myself or my family back from obtaining your treasure. That I forsake everything to obtain this. Lord guide me and my family in this walk as we continue in our search for your knowledge.
Amen
with blessings
