The Sunset is hiding behind the trees, yellow and orange colours scattered in front of a light blue.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
This phrase came to mind when looking upon the sunset tonight. Many people that have survived beyond the odds ascribe their survival to luck. I survived many death defying moments, especially when I was caving, but I always believed someone was looking after me.
When God blesses us with a blessed life, with contentment and hope for our future, God wants us to attribute the glory to Him. One of the reasons for doing this blog was to show people the glory that is in nature and not to hide it away. So often in todays world we might find ourselves driving past sunsets and sunrises and not notice them.
Our good works also are to be ascribed to God also. We are to glorify Him when we do good works. When I turned my life to Christ, a straighter truer path seemed to open up that has been wondrous and exciting. I wouldn’t have been able to get where I am with out God’s help and tonight I thank Him for this. When life is going well and we are resting then we should glorify God.
Equally when things are not going so well we should also glorify God as Job did. God can bless us or He can test us but we must hold sure to our faith and thank God for what we have.
Dear Lord, thank you for my life and the road you have sent me on. Help me to thank you and go out of my way to tell people about your glory and your never ending love.
Amen
with blessings
Graham
