The lake is still after a storm and we wait patiently for the boat. I remember taking this photograph and waiting with a packed lunch sitting on trees that had fallen. Enjoying the clouds, and the mist. But just listening to the birds and the silence.
From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.
Patience is something I have somedays, and others I feel like there is an urgency. To be able to wait on the coming of the Lord, to put all worries aside and just sit and wait for him. Isaiah tells us that no ear, or eye has perceived any other God, but the Lord.
Jesus was there at creation and made himself flesh and dwelt among us. When He died and rose again, He didn’t appear to everyone. He chose people to be His witnesses so that His word would be carried on in faith.
Perhaps we feel somedays that the boat has sailed and will never come back, like we are waiting for a boat that will never turn up? Faith is called for to have patience and pray to the Lord.
Perhaps we feel like our actions will not have any effect on the world that we live in? That there is too much hardship in the world. But like a raindrop that lands in a lake the ripples gradually work their ways outward. We must pray and have patience for the Lord will come and attend to the hurt in the world.
Lord help me to be more like you, to have patience I wait for you. Help us Lord to be sinless through your sacrifice, forgive us when we are in despair and when our sin casts us into darkness. Be with us and raise us up into a new life with you.
Amen
with blessings
