The Road Goes Ever On by Bilbo Baggins
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
This morning the sun was up rising as usual. It was a quick day with many things happening. But I realised just this evening that we are all on a journey, some at the start and some near the end of this road, but we are all on a journey. Following Jesus has opened up so many avenues and paths that it can not have happened without God. So I can be confident that God is at work in my and my families life. Not through my works of goodness, or lack of them but purely through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Some friendships are only meant to last a short time and then you part. Like the Preston marathon I ran, I would run at the side of people for a while and then either I or that other person would move on.
Jobs have come and gone and some friendships have sustained, some have waned never to be renewed. The relationship with Jesus Christ is a special relationship where not matter what I do, if I am repentant He will always choose to save me, and this is true for all. If we are repentant Jesus will save us.
The path in the picture leads to a farm, there rest and reflection are had. Perhaps it may lead to smaller paths or a turning to go up or down the hill. Sometimes the path will be hard to walk, strenuous and perhaps painful. Sometimes the paths will be joyful.
Tonight I pray for our journey that it may be led by God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen
