sky sunset

Day 71 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

The sunset sits in the sky and sometimes it can look like liquid gold pouring out of the clouds, like lava pouring down. The sky on some nights just seem alive with flames and light.

Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?

It seems obvious to me that in my low moments in life Jesus has been there for me. It might seem sad that we don’t turn to Him when we are having a good life, but it seems that God chooses us, He chooses who will be saved. This seems prejudice but this is only our perception. He wants to save all but He knows when  each person will turn to Him. He is there all the time but perhaps we only choose to turn to Him when we are low because there are less barriers. We are low enough to let go of barriers and trust.

Jesus want our faith to be alive like fire, to be hot and not lukewarm.

We must all act in trust. We must trust God that He knows best for us, that He will provide for our needs. Only when we can trust God can our faith be fanned into flames. St Francis seemed to trust God to provide because he renounced all that he had to live in a cave and lead a simple life.

Trust is action, Faith is something we have.

When I remember back to caving days, when we used to explore caves and occasionally we used to use explosives to enlarge a passage to allow people through to the cavern beyond. The explosives which were handled by a licensed explosives expert were always safe until the detonator was inserted and the charge applied. It seems the same could be true for our faith and trust in God.

Our faith is the explosives, but our trust is the detonator that will set the faith alight.

How wondrous life would be if we could just set peoples faith alive.

Lord Father, I pray that our faith shall be fanned into a roaring fire and that we can trust you for all our needs, that we can walk forward with faith trusting in you. Let us set our sights on your salvation and not rest until we have completed every single instruction that you want us to do, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

with blessings
