Day 69 Let the little children come to me

The glowing grass (sand grass) is nestled between the two sand dunes, it is almost unseen by the person walking by. But it’s preciousness is assured. Fences have been erected by the local council to stop people walking on these dunes as the grass is being eroded away. When the grass is eroded away then these small patches of precious grass will wither. The large grass dunes with “marram grass” grow either side, and these stop the coastal erosion and trap sand to create dunes as breakers. They also shield the smaller plants and encourage life.

The children are precious in that they are the future and we must pass on the good news that Jesus Christ brought. That salvation is offered to all, and joyous life with God in this life and beyond.

Perhaps to children, these are alien things to consider. They seem more concerned with the here and now and so we must also emphasise the joyous life that can be led through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Reflecting on the day I do feel pain over the children that mock and laugh at grown people believing in a person that was born of a virgin woman and was the son of God. I have been laughed at at various places all over the north of England when I mention that I believe in Jesus, and that my belief is that He was a historical person who was who He said He was. There is no other reason for all the evidence that we can look at, but the gospel is more than historical proof. But still they mock.

Our own children we must not let down, and also children who we care for whether in Sunday schools, Schools, clubs, or other various children groups. I fear that God will not look kindly on me if I mistreat these children who have the precious gift of youth.  We are all called upon to lead these children too Christ not away. But it can not be by force.

Matthew 19:13-15

13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.

Christ wants us to lead children in the faith to Him. He wants us to make disciples of as many as we can. He wants us to stand firm against the growing disconnected age, and preach the Gospel.

Lord God I pray we stand firm in our faith, to stand up to the growing winds of discontent and batterings that shake our faith. I pray that we lead many children to you God. I pray that we can cast aside their worries about God and shine as examples of how they should lead their lives. I pray Lord that we are all given the opportunity to shine as children of God.

Amen

with blessings
