sunset in accrington

Day 65 If you have faith…

Very often I am inside a building and I don’t realise what wonders are appearing in the sky. Another sunset, in Accrington with the tops of the houses. Took as I held the camera over a wall to get a good view.

Home to me is sanctuary, it is a rest, there is no effort to be at home. It is very safe. Our house is warm and feels safe.

I do wonder to what extent the patriarchs in the bible and the the nomadic tribes felt closer to nature! They could immediately see the beauty in the sky. They were moving around in the wilderness so they would not get bored of the same view. They had to live off the land so they would have to respect it.

Have we gone backward living in brick warm houses, and people throwing masses of waste out each year?

I do wonder what to what extent the patriarchs in the bible felt secure! They were in tribes and they would have been under threat to invading tribes. But because they were a tribe they also would have respected each other so as to look out for the whole tribe.

Have we gone backward imposing more rules, trying to set up community watch in areas that are over run by problems?

I do wonder to what extent the patriarchs of the bible felt closer to God! They were around when the prophets were around and certainly when many miracles and signs were happening they had proof of God’s glory.

Perhaps people might say;

within our brick houses we are further from our roots
within our brick houses community doesn’t grow
within our brick houses we have all we need but God
within our brick houses we are sealed from what God can bestow

Luke 17:6

He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you

It is great to have faith. But we mustn’t sit around and just let that faith die out. We must use it and experience life and share that faith. Yesterday I wondered how I could take some of my faith and give it to another, and in fact I really had done that already by talking to that person. Only God knows how many times it will take for someone to be accept God is calling them.

I remember a prompting from a friend who only said one phrase but I pondered on that phrase for a long time before it finally reached my heart and spurned me on to have it out with God.

If you have faith, you must trust God that He will lead you and you will obey. If He sends to you someone to share your faith with, then do this with all your heart and realise this is the joy of God working in your life. I am so privileged in my life with my family and I have had so many blessings through my life. This morning I watched a video by Joni Eareckson Tada.

This is sharing your faith and trusting God, putting your faith into action, and I was quite moved so I thought I would end on this tonight.

With blessings

Graham
