sunrise and sunset

Day 26 I will never leave you nor forsake you

Some mornings are fraught with things going wrong. Sometimes that is because we have started the day off wrongly, perhaps not spending some time in prayer. This morning I started wrongly, not by not praying, but by forgetting to be with God through the day.

I can only compare today to – going to the doctor early in the morning, listening to his advice and then walking out the door and doing opposite!

Here at the end of the day I sit and know I could have done better. Selfishness is a hard sin to remove, but I don’t believe God waves a magic wand and chips the whole lot off and He is left with a perfect human again. No, He chips small amounts off, and perhaps by showing me how bad I can be, He teaches me how graceful and forgiving He can be – God will not forsake us!

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God’s sunrise and sunset constantly re-appear. He has set the planets on their orbits and so they will always be there.

Ecclesiastes 1:4-5

One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it arose.

If God has set our planet on its continual rotation and has decreed it will always be here, then God will certainly always be here. When we sin it is not a time to beat ourselves up, or to incriminate ourselves, because Satan is certainly waiting in the wing to add to our negative thoughts. But it is a time to spend with God in prayer asking for forgiveness through Jesus and looking for ways to do better.

This night I pray that we all look to God to lead us, and even though at times it is hard, he is there to remind us – we are not alone.
Thank you Lord for your patience in helping me to change.
Thank you Lord for your grace of forgiveness when I do sin,
and thank you Lord for being there through my day, even though sometimes I fail to see you.

Amen

With blessings

Graham
